This seminar provides a focused overview of artificial neural network approaches and their use and integration into real-world knowledge-processing systems.Indicative topics include
- Neuroscience-inspired Architectures
- Neural architectures
- Spiking neural networks
- Midbrain / cortical architectures
- Neuroscience-inspired robotics
- Neural multimodal integration
- Integration of symbolic, neural or statistical approaches

Objective/Lernziel
Critically analyse and evaluate scientific literature and present research in the area of knowledge processing with neural architectures.Die Fähigkeit zur kritischen Analyse und der Präsentation von Forschungsthemen im Bereich Wissensverarbeitung mit neuronalen Netzwerken.

Procedure/Vorgehen
Seminar with discussions. As an additional option we can offer access to a neural simulator or a new sophisticated robot simulator in our lab. During the seminar each participant will give a talk and write a paper on a selected topic. The successful participation of the seminar (both in paper and talk) is the requirement to take the examination for the module. More details will be given at the first meeting.Seminar mit Diskussionen. Optional können wir zusätzlich eine neuronale Simulationsumgebung oder eine neue Robotersimulationsumgebung zur Verfügung stellen. Jeder Teilnehmer hält dazu im Seminar einen Vortrag und schreibt eine Ausarbeitung zu einem gewählten Thema. Die erfolgreiche Teilnahme am Seminar (Ausarbeitung und Vortrag) ist Vorraussetzung für das Ablegen der Modulprüfung. Weitere Hinweise werden in der ersten Sitzung gegeben.
