Project Description:
Research Objective
Transportation infrastructure planning tool that:
- Incorporates the major highway network of the entire state of Alabama and links the multiple Metropolitan Transportation Organizations
- Addresses alternatives for freight transport on waterways and rail and assesses impact on highway congestion
- Based on Mississippi VITS and developed in conjunction with the National Center for Intermodal Transportation
- Discrete-event model of freight traffic on roadways, navigable waterways, railways, and intermodal centers in Alabama
- ProModel software interfaced with Excel spreadsheets
