Abstract: In the paper an application of Petri net to description of the medium access has been presented. From among many techniques the CSMA-CD and token passing have been chosen. Petri nets are generally applied for modelling systems of distributed control with multiple processes executing concurrently in time. LAN networks are examples of this kind of system.
