Abstract: The Augsburg Structure Oriented computer architecture ASTOR describes the architecure of an asynchronous multiprocessor system at an abstract level. It consists of various special purpose processing units, working in parallel with decentralized control and communicating via message passing. Different special purpose processing units are used for the execution of program flow control constructs among which there is a new one, named dependency, which allows specifying parallel execution of machine instructions by some sort of Petri net.
