Abstract: The Function-Net approach makes use of the channel/activity interpretation of Petri-Nets, and extends it through associating the nodes with abstract components of a software toolbox. Depending on the semantics object each node may represent an object such as a module, a program, a procedure, a file or a parameter. Through this assignment the theory of Petri-Nets is linked to the concepts of sofware engineering and to the ideas of method- and modelbased systems.
