Abstract: Design/OA is a development tool for the rapid generation of customized graphics applications. At its core, Design/OA utilizes Meta Design, the powerful graphics and text processor. With Design/OA, a C programmer can access the Meta Design functions and data structures instead of having to do low-level programming. The open architecture of the system allows developers to incorporate styles from a combination of methodologies. Design/OA applications have been developed for IDEF and Colored Petri nets, and can be extended to structured techniques such as Yourdon/deMarco, or Entity- Relationships.

Keywords: Design/OA software development environment; visual design system; coloured net; entity-relationship.
