Abstract: A new class of stochstic Petri nets is proposed in this paper. The stochstic high-level Petri nets (SHLPN's) are high level Petri nets augumented with exponentially distributed firing times. The main advantage of modeling homogeneous systems using SHLPN's is that the resulting models are simpler, mor intuitive, and have a smaller number of states as the examples show.
