Abstract: With multiprocessor systems for data base servers, high bandwidth packet-switched bus interconnection systems are currently used. We explore the design space relevant for optimal bus pipeline management strategies. Under various burst traffic assumptions on the bus, robust optimal parameters for the bus pipeline depth as well as for the pipeline slot allocation policy can be computed by means of a Generalized Stochastic Petri Net model.
