Abstract: A directed graph can represent cause-effect structures by using nodes as actions and by considering preceding nodes as causes and succeeding nodes as effects. Cause-effect structures are similar to condition-event Petri nets because the behavior of the local state transition rule of cause-effect structures and the behavior of the next marking rule of condition-event nets lead to the same results.
