Duration:
since
1994
Keywords:
Metafont, TeX, writing systems
Objectives:
By adhering to scientific transcription methods, we design
systems that allow the use of Metafont and TeX with non-latin scripts.
The Ethiopian script is realized as a
LaTeX package.
The cyrillic script is
used for as much as 40 different languages. It will be usable for all
those languages within a consistent framework.
The Chinese script is handled by applying database techniques
to unify the existing encodings.
