Abstract: This paper proposes a framework for the evaluation of a user interface from its design specifications. Properties of user interfaces and user characteristics that affect human-computer interaction are described and discussed. The evaluation process is to investigate the properties of a user interface from its EEN specification and to test if the properties are compatable with user characteristics. The EN analysis techniques, including case graph, process and firing sequence, are adopted to analyze the user interface properties from an EEN specification. Finally, the requirements of the software tools for the evaluation framework are indicated
